East Zone U-19, senior women cricket teams announced

The East Zone under-19 and senior women cricket teams for related BCCI tournaments were announced by Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) here today. The teams were finalized in the meeting of the zonal selection committee at Barabati Stadium.

OCA secretary-cum-zonal-convener Asirbad Behera, National selector Lopamudra Banerjee and members Santosh Das (Odisha), Majoj Bhagawati (Assam), Mithu Mukherjee (Bengal), Kanu Chakraborty (Jharkhand) and Biman Chatterjee (Tripura) were present in the meeting.

Odisha allrounder Sushree Dibyadarshini Pradhan will lead the East Zone team in the U-19 Women Inter-Zonal Tournament, the two-day matches of which are scheduled to be held at Ranchi from January 17 to 30, 2016. The 16-member East Zone team features five other players from Odisha.

Bengal pacer Jhulan Goswami will be the captain of the East Zone team in the Senior Women Inter-Zonal Tournament, the three-day matches of which are set to take place at Guntur from February 26 to March 16, 2016. Six players from Odisha have been included in this 16-member team.

EAST ZONE SENIOR WOMEN TEAM: Madhusmita Behera, Swagatika Rath, Madhuri Meheta, Sushree Dibyadarshini Pradhan, Kadambini Mohakud, Sujata Mallick; Jhulan Goswami, Aparna Mondal, Mandira Mohapatra, Priyanka Roy, Saika Issaque, Sukanya Parida (all Bengal); Niharika Prasad, Ritu Kumari (bot Jharkhand); Rekha Rani Bora (Assam); Rizu Saha (Tripura). Coach: Anju Jain (Assam); Assistant coach: Charanjit Kaur (Jharkhand); Physio: Sheetal Mohanty (Odisha); Trainer: Priyanka Mondal (Bengal).
